Patricia Gordon Obituary

YOUNGSTOWN - Patricia Kay Gordon, 76, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 10, 2024, in the comfort of her home due to natural causes.

Patricia was born November 2, 1947, in Warren, a daughter of the late William and Kathryn Williams Haas and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1965 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and further pursued her passion for learning at Youngstown State University, where she majored in English.

For nearly three decades, Patricia served the Austintown Local Schools with unwavering dedication. Known affectionately as "Miss Pat" by all who knew her, she embarked on her career in the school's kitchen, eventually transitioning to the role of a teacher's aide within the special education department. Her commitment to her work was evident in the joy she found in helping the children, exemplified by her thoughtful gesture of creating treat bags for holidays even after she no longer worked within the special education department. For the past 11 years, she graced the office of Austintown Intermediate School, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of students, parents and colleagues alike.

Mrs. Gordon was a member of St. Christine Church in Youngstown.

Outside of her professional life, Patricia embraced the simple joys of life. She delighted in shopping, harbored a deep affection for animals, and cherished moments spent in the company of cherished friends. In her youth, she reveled in camping adventures alongside her husband and children. However, her greatest joy stemmed from the time she spent with her family, who held a special place in her heart.

Patricia's altruistic spirit shone brightly through her acts of kindness and generosity. Whether it was offering a warm smile, extending a helping hand, or surprising acquaintances with small gifts from Dunkin' or Handel's, her thoughtfulness knew no bounds. She was a beautiful soul, always remembering family and friends with special gifts and notes.

Pat is survived by her son, Jason P. Leancu of Austintown; her daughter, Kelly Rae (Daniel) Boak of Youngstown; her grandson, Justin; two brothers, Michael Haas of Kent and Robert (Denise) Haas of Champion; sister-in-law, Denise (Jim) Ide of Champion; her beloved “granddogs” Laila, Maz and Indy; several nieces and nephews and many extended family members and friends.

Pat leaves behind a legacy of compassion, kindness, and selflessness that will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.

Her husband of 39 years, Raymond Gordon, whom she married July 28, 1978, passed away March 29, 2017.

Pat’s first husband, George “Tim” Leancu also preceded her in death.

Family and friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Kinnick Funeral Home 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16 at the funeral home and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11 a.m.

Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown where Pat will be laid to rest with her husband, Raymond.

In lieu of flowers, Pat’s family kindly suggests donations be made to a local animal charity of your choice in Patricia's memory, continuing her legacy of giving and compassion.
