YOUNGSTOWN - Eric Leo Frenzel, 52, passed away peacefully April 24, 2024, after a courageous battle with brittle diabetes and heart disease in the comfort of his home.
Born on April 15, 1972, in Youngstown, to Werner and Barbara Fredette Frenzel, Eric was a proud graduate of Youngstown Christian Academy, class of 1990. Following in his father's footsteps, he joined the family-owned business, Continental Plumbing Company, where he demonstrated exceptional skill and commitment as a union plumber affiliated with Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 87/396.
At the tender age of fifteen, Eric met and fell in love with the girl that would stay by his side for the rest of his life. Together, they shared 32 years of marriage and five children. Eric and Christine have created a bond that could not be broken, and a love story that survived and grew stronger through all of life's ups and downs.
Eric's strong faith and love of God gave him the insight to appreciate the blessings he had in his life. He took simple pleasure in spending time with his family, sitting on a boat, not catching anything, and deciding what snack he might be able to sneak past his wife. Eric was incredibly involved with his children and their activities. He started a soccer league at St. Nicholas School in Struthers and coached for many years. He was a master of the "O" game. He enjoyed smacking you when you looked, but his charisma and smile always helped him get away with it. Sadly, Christine was not Eric's only love. He had a “mistress” that he kept out in the garage. Occasionally, he would take her top off and take her for a ride. Boy, did he love that Jeep.
Missing Eric everyday will be his wife, Christine Honthy Frenzel; his three daughters, Jessica (Jacob) Brothers of Canfield, Julia Frenzel (Jared Rohm) of Lisbon, and Jenna Frenzel (Jack Kerr Jr.) of Canfield; his sister, Kim Frenzel (Jarda Juza) of Florida and many extended family members that loved him dearly.
Welcoming Eric through the gates of heaven were his beloved children, Joy Frenzel and Joshua Frenzel; his parents, Werner and Barbara Frenzel; his brother, Kurt Frenzel; his father and mother-in-law, Lee and Carol Honthy, and a nephew, Jeremiah Honthy.
Family and friends may gather to pay respects from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church 3300 Canfield Rd., Youngstown, OH 44511 where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Following the memorial service, a luncheon will be held in the church hall to further celebrate Eric’s life.
