YOUNGSTOWN - William D. Hartill Jr., 78, passed away unexpectedly while visiting family for Thanksgiving, early Saturday morning, Nov. 25, 2017, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

William was born Feb. 17, 1939, in Youngstown, a son of the late William Sr. and Mary Margaret Horvath Hartill, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Hartill was a graduate of Ursuline High School and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years. After his service in the Corps, he worked as a bricklayer, for RMI Titanium, and for the Mahoning Valley Sanitary District as an electrician, from where he retired in 2003.

He was a former member of St. Edward Parish, and was a current member of St. Christine Parish in Youngstown. During his time at both churches, Bill, along with his wife, headed the bingo fundraiser operations.

Mr. Hartill was a member of the Army-Navy Garrison on Logan Avenue. He was also a member of the Mahoning Valley Gaelic Society and a member of the Youngstown Area Irish Step Dancers Boosters. He enjoyed casino trips, golfing, family vacations, and spending time socializing with friends.

Mr. Hartill’s wife, Monica McCudden Hartill, whom he married March 3, 1961, passed away in 2007.

Bill leaves seven children, William D. Hartill III of Youngstown, Joseph P. Hartill of Brunswick, Heather M. (Rick) Braunstein of Canfield, Molly R. (Mark) Bianco of Canfield, Meghan L. (Sean) Ryder of Mason, Patrick J. (Natasa) of West Chester, and Robert J. Hartill of Youngstown, with whom he shared his home; 11 grandchildren, Alex and Cooper Hartill, Ryan and James Cysewski, Ben and Jake Braunstein, Jack and Kate Ryder, Annabel and Olivia Bianco, and Iliana Hartill; his twin brother, Robert Hartill of Liberty Township; and his companion of recent years, Toni DePietro.

Besides his wife, two sisters, Nora Mae Clark and Barbara Jean McNeil, are deceased.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 30, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 10:15 a.m., Friday, Dec. 1, at the funeral home, and will continue with an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Christine Church on South Schenley Avenue in Youngstown.

Committal will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown at a later date, where Bill will be laid to rest next to his wife, Monica.
