Wanda L. Schlosser

DIAMOND – Wanda L. Schlosser, 83, passed away early Thursday morning, Nov. 10, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, following a brief illness.

Wanda was born Aug. 16, 1933, in Lake Milton, a daughter of the late Conrad R. and Gertrude Brock Dettmer, and was a lifelong resident of the Lake Milton area.

She was a 1951 graduate of Jackson-Milton High School and was a 1958 graduate of the Choffin School of Practical Nursing. Wanda worked as an LPN for five years at St. Elizabeth Hospital before giving up nursing to farm and raise Simmental cattle with her late husband, which she did for 20 years.

Wanda enjoyed telling family stories, gardening, flowers, watching birds, photography, and attending church services.

Mrs. Schlosser was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Youngstown, and was involved with the Special Olympics.

Her husband of nearly 40 years, Wendelin M. Schlosser, whom she married Aug. 27, 1960, passed away July 27, 2000.

Wanda leaves her son and daughter-in-law, Michael W. Schlosser and Sandee Varone Schlosser of Austintown; her daughter, Gertrude Elisabeth Schlosser of Canfield; a brother, Helmut F. “Dutch” (Patricia) Dettmer of Diamond; two sisters, Herta E. Heffner of Austintown and Alberda A. Geister (Tony) of Austintown; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, three brothers, Arnold, Arthur, and Eric Dettmer, and two sisters, Linda Dettmer and Beata Unzner, preceded Wanda in death.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Kinnick Funeral Home 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where funeral services will take place at 6:30 p.m.

Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Wanda will be laid to rest next to her husband.
