YOUNGSTOWN - Vincent Ilovsky, 87, of the city’s west side, passed away Monday afternoon, Feb. 1, 2016, at Omni Manor Nursing Center, following a long and fulfilling life.

Vince was born April 2, 1928, in Strecno, Slovakia, a son of the late Stephen and Teresa Ondak Ilovsky, and came to America and Youngstown as a young man in 1948.

Mr. Ilovsky served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He received the Purple Heart after being wounded in Korea, and was transferred to the Tokyo Army Hospital, where he worked in the publication department.

Vince worked for 35 years at Youngstown Sheet & Tube at the Campbell Works, where he worked with lubrication and hydraulics equipment, retiring from the mill in 1986. In 1954, he went to radio and TV repair school, and he worked part-time repairing radios and televisions in the 1950s through the 1970s.

He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Holy Name of Jesus Church in Youngstown. Vince was a former member of the boat club at Berlin Lake, and he enjoyed fishing and trips back to Slovakia to visit family.

Vince leaves his wife, Beatrice I. Tobey Ilovsky, whom he married in 1986; his son, Stephen V. (Sharon) Ilovsky of Youngstown; his daughter, Teresa Petch of Youngstown; five grandchildren, Jodie (Jay) Bremer, Chris (Melissa) Ilovsky, Carley Petch, John Petch, and Stephen Ilovsky; a great-grandson, Jack; four stepchildren, Richard, Dale, Karen, and Pamela; and several step-grandchildren.

A sister, Maria Hanuliakova, is deceased.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 4, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 10:15 a.m., Friday, Feb. 5, at the funeral home, and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 613 N. Lakeview Ave., on Youngstown’s west side.

Committal services will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
