YOUNGSTOWN - Vincent Gary Halko, 64, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, April 23, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

Vince, who was known to all as “Bean,” was born in Youngstown on July 7, 1951, a son of Vincent F. and Mary Ann Medvez Halko, and was a lifelong area resident.

Vince graduated from Chaney High School in 1969, and worked for 28 years for Teamsters Union Local, No. 377, retiring in 1997 because of disability.

Mr. Halko attended both Holy Name of Jesus Church in Youngstown and St. Christine Church in Youngstown. He was also a social member of Catholic War Veterans, John J. Buckley Post, No. 1292, on Steel Street in Youngstown.

A lover of the outdoors, Bean loved having fun in the sun, and enjoyed vacationing in Florida. Most importantly, he loved spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Vince is survived by his wife, Debra Merrell Webber Halko, whom he married March 8, 2004; his son, Vincent Jason Halko of Haymarket, Va.; his mother, Mary Ann Halko of Youngstown; two stepchildren, Jennifer (William) Kucher of Youngstown and Shelley Webber of Cleveland; four grandchildren, Taylor, Ashley, Alexa, and Josie; three brothers, Robert (Judy) Halko of Austintown, Donald (Pam) Halko of Gibsonton, Fla., and Kenneth (Jackie) Halko of North Jackson; and a sister, Pam Halko Rider of Craig Beach.

Bean was preceded in death by his father.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where a funeral service will follow at 7 p.m.

The Halko family would like to extend a very special thanks to the staff at the St. Elizabeth Health Center ICU, and to the entire staff at Caprice Health Care Center for the kindness shown and care given to Vince and his family.
