Sophie L. Lambert

GIRARD - Sophie L. Lambert, 85, passed away early Sunday morning, April 24, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Sophie was born July 4, 1930, in Sannicandro di Bari, Italy, a daughter of the late Thomas and Frances Riccardo Bellino, and came to the United States with her family as a child.

She attended East High School and later went to work as an O.B. Tech at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown for 47 years.

Mrs. Lambert was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard.

Sophie’s family and friends always meant the most to her, and she greatly enjoyed the times they had together more than anything. She also enjoyed cooking, crocheting, baking, playing cards and going to the casino. Sophie was an avid Cleveland sports fan, and she loved to travel.

Her husband, Joseph Lambert Sr., whom she married Nov. 21, 1964, passed away Sept. 29, 2000.

Mrs. Lambert leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Thomas (Nancy) Lambert of Howland and Joseph (Tracy) Lambert Jr. of Canfield; a daughter, Mary Fran (Mike) Wolfgang of Girard; five grandchildren, Emily Wolfgang, Michael Wolfgang, Sidney Lambert, Alexandra Lambert, and Matthew Lambert; a brother, Frank Bellino of Cortland; and her goddaughter, Francine Spicher of Cortland.

Besides her husband, a sister Lena Bellino and a brother Francis Bellino preceded Sophie in death.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, at Kinnick Funeral Home, McClurkin Memorial Chapel, 222 S. State St., Girard.

Funeral services will begin Thursday, April 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, and will continue at 11 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Rose Church, 48 E. Main Street, Girard.

Interment will follow at Belmont Park Cemetery in Liberty Township, where Sophie will be laid to rest next to her husband.
