BOARDMAN - Scott A. Burin, 61, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, Nov. 3, 2017, at his home.

Scott was born Oct. 19, 1956, in Berea, a son of Andrew and Marjorie Kibler Burin, and came to the Youngstown area with his family as a child.

He was a 1975 graduate of Liberty High School, where he was senior class president and a three-year letterman in football, basketball, and baseball. In 2004, Scott was inducted into the Liberty High School Hall of Fame.

Mr. Burin graduated in 1979 from the University of Miami, Florida, with a bachelor of arts degree in communications. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and also played Division I baseball for the Hurricanes. A year later, in 1980, Scott earned a masters degree in broadcast law, also from the University of Miami.

From 1982 to 1997, Scott worked locally for WHOT Radio, where he was a radio marketing master and a certified radio marketing consultant. He subsequently became an owner, operator, and acting general manager of International Towers in downtown Youngstown until the late 2000s, and he currently was a realtor with Century 21 Homestar Realty.

Mr. Burin was a member of the Republican Party and served as precinct committeeman for 32 years. He was very proud of the Boardman community and spent countless hours volunteering to keep the township beautiful.

Courageous and self-motivated, Scott will always be remembered as a thoughtful, compassionate, and inspirational individual who took great pride in his work and who was always there for his family and available to help those in need. He truly enjoyed watching his daughters play sports, and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers.

Scott is survived by the love of his life, Doreen L. Senvisky Burin, whom he married June 1, 1985; two daughters, who were the pride of his life, Danielle Burin of Cuyahoga Falls and Brittany Burin of Poland; his mother, Marjorie Burin of Poland; two brothers, Kim (Penny) Burin of Liberty Township and Mark (Kathy) Burin of Vienna; a sister, Andrea (Greg) Linnelli; and his Little Daisy “Meat.”

His father, Andrew, preceded him in death.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd. in Youngstown.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, St. Matthias Church in Youngstown.

Scott’s family suggests memorial contributions may be made in Scott’s name to Animal Charity Humane Society of Mahoning County, 4140 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
