GIRARD – Ruth C. Brine, 85, passed away Friday morning, Oct. 21, 2016, at Omni Manor in Youngstown, surrounded by her loving family.

Ruth was born Nov. 13, 1930, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Charles and Anna Karol Holicki, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a Girard High School graduate and worked at Penn-Ohio, the Charles Shop, and at St. Elizabeth Health Center in the billing and maintenance department.

Mrs. Brine was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard, and was past-president of the Knights of Columbus, Ladies Auxiliary.

Ruth greatly enjoyed crafts, playing cards, reading, and vacationing with her family and friends. She was an avid golfer playing in ladies’ golf leagues in Girard and Hubbard, and she also played in the Duffers’ Couples League. Mrs. Brine also enjoyed the time she spent with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ruth leaves her husband of 66 years, Louis P. Brine Sr., whom she married July 12, 1950; two sons, Joseph C. (Karen) Brine of Girard and Dr. Louis P. Jr. (Theresa) Brine of Poland; two daughters, Ruthann (Daniel) Brine McConnell of Lexington, Ky. and Susan (Charles) Brine Rosile of Hubbard; 11 grandchildren, LeAnn Brine, Joseph Brine Jr., Christopher (Sandy) Brine, Michael (Nicole) Brine, Dr. Patrick (Angela) Brine, Dr. Anthony (Rebekah) Brine, Sarah McConnell, Megan McConnell, Colleen McConnell, Katie (Denny IV) Highsmith, and Chase Rosile; eight great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Tyler, Bobby, Andrew, Vincent, Henry, Evan, and Denny V; two sisters, Wanda Marciano of Girard and Delores (Robert) Dycman of Canfield; and many nieces and nephews.

A sister, Evelyn Davey, preceded Ruth in death.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 24, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., Girard.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at the funeral home and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Rose Church, 48 E. Main St., Girard.

Interment will follow at Girard City Cemetery.

Ruth’s family would like to thank the staff at Omni Manor along with the staff of Hospice of the Valley for the kindness shown and special care given to Ruth and her family. Her family also thanks the staff at Briarfield Manor and Briarfield at Ashley Circle, Dr. John Koval, Dr. Sudhir Nallapaneni, and Dr. David Delliquadri, for the kindness and care provided.
