Richard W. Evans

YOUNGSTOWN - Richard W. Evans, 60, passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 26, 2016, at his home with his family by his side, following an extended illness.

Richard was born May 12, 1956, in Youngstown, and was a son of Richard T. and Patricia Rainey Evans. He was raised in Poland, Ohio, and lived in various states before returning to Youngstown.

Mr. Evans served in the United States Marine Corps from 1973 to 1976. He was a roofer who owned and operated Evans Roofing until declining health forced him to close his business.

He was an active member of AA for 20 years, and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping, and he loved spending time with his family.

Rich leaves his wife, Jean E. McIntire Evans, whom he met 44 years ago; five children, Joan (John) Clous of Ann Arbor, Mich., Shannan (Jeff) Jursa of Austintown, Anna (Joe) Luknis of Youngstown, Richard T. Evans of Youngstown, and Randi Steele of Vienna; his mother, Patricia Christopher of Youngstown; 12 grandchildren, Evan Shobel, Richard T. Evans Jr., Timothy Steele, Anthony Evans, Bishep Clous, Serenity Adams, Noah Jursa, Drew Jursa, Nikolas Evans, Andrew Luknis, Thomas Luknis, and Kenneth Harris; a brother, William Evans of Campbell; and a sister, Sharon (William) Valentino of Campbell.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard; his stepfather, Charles Christopher; and three brothers, Samuel, Joseph, and David Evans.

Family and friends may gather from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 1, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, for a celebration of Rich’s life with Marine Corps honors.
