YOUNGSTOWN - Pauline Mary Haramia Cvetkovic, 96, passed away Wednesday morning, July 20, 2016, at Park Vista Retirement Community in Youngstown.

Pauline was born Sept. 1, 1919, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa Horvat Haramija, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was an elementary school graduate of Sts. Peter & Paul Croatian Catholic School, and was a 1937 graduate of The Rayen School. Pauline also attended Youngstown College and Youngstown University for several years.

Mrs. Cvetkovic was employed in many and various capacities during her working life. During her high school days, she worked for Mrs. Anne Blewitt. She subsequently worked for Atty. David R. Reel; for Hynes Steel Products; for Wholesale Lumber; for Simonton, Jones & Company; for Stambaugh Motors; for Youngstown Sheet & Tube; and for Kreider Company Realtors.

Interested in accounting, sewing, and singing, Pauline was a member of The Rayen School a-capella choir and sang on WTAM Radio in Cleveland twice. She studied voice and was also a member of the Girls’ Octette and “Kidlets,” and she sang with the Messiah and Arion Choruses. Pauline learned sewing from her mother, an accomplished seamstress, and in high school and at Ben’s Tailoring.

Mrs. Cvetkovic was a member of Holy Apostles Parish, Sts. Peter & Paul Croatian Catholic Church and of St. Columba Cathedral, both in Youngstown. She sang in the choir at Sts. Peter & Paul, and sang in the quartet at St. Columba. She was also a member of St. George Croatian Lodge No. 66 in Youngstown. 

Pauline’s husband of 55 years, Charles Carroll Cvetkovic, whom she married May 1, 1948, passed away Oct. 24, 2003. A brother and a sister are also deceased.

Pauline leaves several extended family members, and her Park Vista “family.”

Family and friends may gather from 11 to 11:30 a.m., Monday, July 25, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 421 Covington St., Youngstown, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Pauline will be laid to rest next to her husband.
