YOUNGSTOWN - Patricia J. “Pat” Kovachik, 73, of Omni Manor, and formerly of the Phoenix House. passed away Saturday morning, Sept. 24, 2016, at Omni Manor, with her family by her side.

Pat was born Oct. 25, 1942, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Bindas Wallace, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Kovachik was a 1960 graduate of Chaney High School, and was a homemaker and a longtime member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church in Youngstown and its Rosary Society. She worked in the kitchen at St. Mary’s Assumption Social Center during bingo and other church festivities since 1987. Prior to that, she had been a housekeeper at the parish rectory.

Pat enjoyed poetry, music, and she loved people. She truly enjoyed the time she spent with her family.

Pat’s husband of 36 years, Paul G. Kovachik, whom she married Nov. 26, 1960, passed away Dec. 7, 1996.

She leaves two daughters, JoAnn Kovachik and Cathy Kovachik Tolle, both of Youngstown; a son, Daniel Kovachik of Youngstown; two sisters, JoAnn Wallace of Youngstown and Barbara Campolito of Poland; and four grandchildren, Eugene Potesta III, Michael Potesta, Mark Caruso Jr., and Catlin Tolle.

Besides her husband, two brothers, Richard and Hank Wallace, are deceased.

Family and friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28, at Kinnick Funeral Home in Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, and will continue at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church on South Belle Vista Avenue in Youngstown.

Interment will take place at the parish cemetery, where Pat will be laid to rest next to her husband.
