Olga Friedman

CAMPBELL - Olga Friedman, 89, passed away early Friday evening, Nov. 17, 2017, at St. Mary Alzheimer Center in Columbiana.

Olga was born Dec. 6, 1927, in Campbell, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Susie Vavrec Pacak, and was a lifelong resident of Campbell.

She was a graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and in her younger days worked for the Kresge Five & Dime in downtown Youngstown. She later became a homemaker who dedicated her adult life to raising and caring for her family.

Olga was a longtime member of St. Michael Orthodox Church in Youngstown, where she belonged to the church choir and was active in various church organizations.

She will always be remembered for her fine baking skills, her famous clothespin cookies, and her preparation of many delicious ethnic foods.

Her husband of 58 years, Edward J. Friedman, whom she married Feb. 20, 1954, passed away Dec. 16, 2012.

Mrs. Friedman leaves two daughters, Deborah (Robert W.) Bellino of New Middletown and Susan (David) Hutnyan of Boardman; three grandchildren, Christopher Bellino, Rachel (John) Carbon, and Jonathan Hutnyan; two great-grandchildren, Ellie and Johnny; a sister, Mary Geletka; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Olga was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel R. Bellino, and a brother, Joseph Pacak.

Family and friends may call from noon to 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 20, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, where funeral services will take place at 1 p.m.

Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery, where Olga will be laid to rest next to her husband.
