Neil "Mouse" Franklin

Memorial services Saturday, 4/16/16, at Church

GIRARD - Neil “Mouse” Franklin, 86, passed away peacefully, Monday morning, Feb. 8, 2016, at his home following a lengthy illness.

Neil was born June 11, 1929, in Youngstown, a son of the late Albert E. and Phyllis Hargraves Franklin, and was a lifelong area resident.

He was a 1948 graduate of East High School and worked at Youngstown Sheet & Tube in the plant protection department for 30 years, retiring in 1981.

Mr. Franklin was a member of St. John Episcopal Church in Youngstown.

Mouse was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting and woodworking, and he especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family.

Mr. Franklin leaves his wife of 65 years, Margaret L. Bush Franklin, whom he married Nov. 18, 1950; three children, Diane L. Franklin New, Margaret Louise Franklin Smith, and Neil Bruce Franklin, all of Girard; four grandchildren, John G. New of Bassett, Va., Allison M. Franklin of Columbus, Joshua Franklin Hodge of Essex, Md., and Jeremy Shay Smith of Girard; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Neil will be truly and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A son, Glenn David Franklin; three sisters, Joan Dinger, Dorothy Franklin, and Janet Lee Stamp; and two brothers, Albert Franklin and James Franklin, preceded him in death.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a memorial services which will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016, at  St. John’s Episcopal Church in Youngstown.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, McClurkin Memorial Chapel, 222 S. State St., Girard.

In lieu of flowers, Neil’s family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown, OH 44503; or to MVI Hospice, 4891 Belmont Ave., Youngstown, OH 44505.
