Mildred J. Drahus
February 13, 1922 ~ April 4, 2016 (age 94) 94 Years OldKANSAS CITY, MO. – Mildred J. Drahus, 94, went home to her Lord, Monday April 4, 2016, at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City.
Mildred was born Feb. 13, 1922, in Girard, a daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine Basic Siranovic. She was raised in McDonald and moved to Brown Deer, Wis. in 1973 and lived there until moving to Kansas City in July of 2015.
She was a 1940 graduate of McDonald High School and worked as a secretary and in school lunch programs, but her favorite “job” was dedicating time to her family.
A loving homemaker, Mildred enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Drahus was always proud of her Croatian heritage, and she loved a good polka. In her later years, she became an avid fan of college basketball cheering on any team that was playing.
Her husband, John Drahus, whom she married in October of 1949, passed away Nov. 5, 2004.
Mildred leaves to cherish her memory four children, Denise (Ralph) Vosters of Olathe, Kansas, Judy Simon of Canfield, Jack (Tammy) Drahus of Wake Forest, No. Car., and David (Marie) Drahus of Portland, Tenn; nine grandchildren, Nicole (Shane) Flaar, Michelle Wagner, Mike Vosters, James and Daniel Simon, and Darcie, Nicholas, Kayla, and Jessica Drahus; and two great-grandsons, Ryan and Owen Flaar.
Besides her husband, Mildred was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Charles Siranovic, and by two sisters, Angela Sheronovich and Ruth Miranda.
A Memorial Mass will be take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 618 Ohio Ave., McDonald.
Inurnment will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
