Michael A. Mikulich

GIRARD - Michael A. Mikulich, 82, passed away Friday. Nov. 6, 2015, at his daughter’s home, surrounded by his loving family

Michael was born May 4, 1933, in Wampum, Pa., a son of the late Mijo and Jennie DeLost Mikulich, and came to this area as a child.

He was a graduate of Girard High School and worked for Youngstown Sheet & Tube and for McDonald Steel for many years, until he retired.

Mr. Mikulich was a Korean War U.S. Army veteran. He was member of the Knights of Columbus Girard Council, the St. George’s Croatian Lodge No. 66, the Girard Eagles Aerie No. 2172, and the American Legion Post No. 234. He was an avid golfer and bowler in many leagues throughout the Mahoning Valley.

Mike was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard.

His wife, Carmel Vesco, whom he married Oct. 22, 1955, passed away Aug. 2, 1989.

Mike leaves to cherish his memory six children, Cathy (Jack) Balko of Girard, Cindy (Anthony) Gerchak of Girard, Michael (Anita) Mikulich of Liberty Township, Lori Mikulich of Girard, Carol (Frank) Bass of Jacksonville, North Carolina, and Joyce (Gary) Bass of Girard; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Gabriella) Mikulich of Liberty Township; a sister, Dodie Rorison of Girard ; and his companion of many years, Julie Cohol of Liberty Township.

Besides his wife, three sisters, Gene Fetty, Rose Pozega, Geraldine Gatta, and a grandson, Frank William Bass Jr., preceded him in death.

Family and friends may call Monday, Nov. 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kinnick Funeral Home, McClurkin Memorial Chapel, 222 S. State St., in Girard.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the funeral home, and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m at St. Rose Church, 48 E. Main St., Girard.

Interment will follow at Girard Union Cemetery.

Michael’s family would like to extend very special thanks to Hospice of the Valley for the kindness shown and care given to Michael.
