YOUNGSTOWN - Mary C. Yarwick, 97, passed away peacefully late Friday morning, May 12, 2017. She was born Sept. 7, 1919, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Joseph and Barbara Wilczkiewicz Ruz. Mary was a graduate of South High School and a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Yarwick leaves two children, Harry (Judith) Yarwick of Enon and Nancy Yarwick of Youngstown; three grandchildren, Michael (Rita) Yarwick, Brenda (John) Skakun, and Bryan (Afton) Yarwick; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a sister, Betty Peyko of Campbell.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Yarwick, whom she married Nov. 21, 1940, and who passed away Oct 6, 1968; a son, Gregory Yarwick; three brothers, Walter, Stanley, and Ted Ruz; and three sisters, Sister Dosithea Ruz of the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago, Veronica Bush, and Louise Yarwick.

Mrs. Yarwick was an active member of St. Patrick Church in Youngstown, where she was a member of the Altar Guild and the Bereavement Committee, and was a volunteer for the parish spaghetti dinners.

Besides caring for her family, Mary had a career selling Tupperware for over 20 years. She will always be remembered by her family and friends for her delicious kolachi and apple pie.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, May 15, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home, and will continue at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Avenue, Youngstown, with the Rev. Edward Noga officiating.

Interment follows at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband.

Memorial contributions my be made in Mary’s name to St. Patrick Church.

Mrs. Yarwick’s family thanks Hospice of the Valley for the kindness shown and care given to Mary and her family during her illness.
