CANFIELD - Mary Louise Palfi, formerly of Youngstown's west side, passed away peacefully late Saturday evening, June 17, 2017, at her home with her family by her side, just a couple of days after celebrating her 97th birthday.

Mary Louise was born June 15, 1920, in Youngstown a daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Tomko Ganofsky, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1939 graduate of East High School and dedicated her adult life to raising and caring for her family.

Mrs. Palfi was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Holy Name of Jesus Church.

She enjoyed needlework, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, and her Kindle. Most of all, Mrs. Palfi enjoyed the time she spent with her family.

Mary Louise leaves to cherish her memory a son, John Palfi of Youngstown; five daughters, Mary Lou Hessman of Canfield, Patricia Pushcar of Masury, Pauline (Anthony) Pellegrini of Diamond, Christine (Joseph) Dundon of Salem, and Barbara (David) Pizzola of Salem; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; several step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and a step-great-great-grandchild.

Her husband, Michael Palfi, whom she married Nov. 22, 1945, passed away Aug. 29, 1975. Two brothers, John and Joe Ganofsky; a son-in-law, Ralph Hessman; a son-in-law, Gary Pushcar; a step-grandchild; and a step-great-grandchild, are also deceased.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 21, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m., Thursday, June 22, at the funeral home, and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 613 N Lakeview Ave., Youngstown.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Mary Louise will be laid to rest next to her husband.
