Mary F. Kopsic

YOUNGSTOWN - Mary F. Kopsic, 93, passed away peacefully Friday morning, Nov. 13, 2015, at Hospice House.

Mary was born March 25, 1922, in Richnava, Slovakia, a daughter of the late Frank and Anna Kovac Mihalik, and came to America and to Youngstown as a child.

She was a graduate of Chaney High School and worked for Air Service Command at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton during World War II.

Mrs. Kopsic also worked for Ohio Machinery in Youngstown, for Joan Kubik Tax Service, and she volunteered at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Mary was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Holy Name of Jesus Church, and of its Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokols and of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association.

Her husband, John J. Kopsic Jr., whom she married April 25, 1953, passed away March 11, 2004.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory, her son, John J. Kopsic III of Austintown; two daughters, Janet M. Kopsic of Austintown and Nancy A. (David) Carbon of Westlake; a grandson, Michael J. Carbon; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, a brother, Frank M. Mihalik, and a sister, Margaret Hudach, preceded her in death.

Family and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 16, at Kinnick Funeral Home 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m., Monday, at the funeral home, and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 613 North Lakeview Ave., Youngstown.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery where Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband.
