YOUNGSTOWN - Maria E. Nolasco, 75, of the city’s west side, passed away peacefully Friday evening, Feb. 9, 2018, at Hospice House following a brief illness, with her family by her side.
Maria, who was affectionately known as “Leni,” was born Sept. 16, 1942, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Rodolfo and Antonia Cacho Nolasco, and was a lifelong area resident.
Maria attended Chaney High School. She enjoyed watching baseball, the news, and her favorite TV shows, especially Dancing with the Stars. She was a big fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, and she enjoyed ceramics.
Leni was very loyal to her family, and was regarded as the “glue which kept the family together.”
She was a member of St. Brendan Church in Youngstown.
Maria leaves to cherish her memory three brothers, Rudolph Nolasco of Youngstown, Manuel Nolasco of Austintown, and Peter (Imelda) Nolasco, with whom she made her home; a sister, Amelia Iman of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Leni will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Two sisters, Lupita N. Donatiello and infant Elvira Nolasco, are deceased.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Tuesday, Feb. 13, at St. Brendan Church.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Leni was laid to rest next to her parents.
Arrangements were entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.
