BOARDMAN – Lena M. Clementi, 95, passed away Friday morning, May 20, 2016, at Hospice House, after a long and fulfilling life.

Lena was born April 2, 1921, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Eliso and Elvira Baldini Caporossi, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Clementi was a 1939 graduate of The Rayen School and worked at Camp Butner in North Carolina during World War II, where she was part of the USO Service Club and was an interpreter for Italian POWs.

A beloved wife, mother, and homemaker, she dedicated her adult life to raising and caring for her family, and she also sold delicious baked goods at the Pyatt Street Market in Youngstown.

Lena was a member of the former St. Casimir Church in Youngstown and was currently a member of St. Patrick Church in Youngstown. While a member of St. Casimir Church, Lena was a member of the St. Casey Senior Citizens and the Altar & Rosary Society, and she worked with the Parish's bingo project.

Mrs. Clementi enjoyed reading and playing on her iPad. She also enjoyed cooking and baking, and Lena especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. 

Her husband of 63 years, Gregory Clementi, the love of her life, whom she married July 27, 1942, passed away Aug. 11, 2005.

Mrs. Clementi leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Gregory Clementi of Boardman and David (Lori) Clementi of Boardman; two daughters, Patricia (Richard) Brincko of Boardman, with who she made her home, and Sandra (Ronald) West of Boardman; a daughter-in-law, Tammy Clementi of Boardman; eight grandchildren, Lisa (Rick) Svetlak, Lori (John) Babos, Jennifer West, Christie (Michael) Conner, Courtney Lynn Clementi, Cara Clementi, Nicole (Michael) Williams, and David (Amanda) Clementi; 19 great-grandchildren; and her loyal dog, Bentley.

Besides her husband, a granddaughter, Michele West; a daughter-in-law Sharon; a brother, Dino Caporossi; three sisters, Josephine Caporossi, Lydia (George) Martin, and Dina Caporossi; and a great-granddaughter, Cassie West, preceded Lena in death.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, May 22 at Kinnick Funeral Home 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin Monday at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown. 

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown where Lena will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.

Lena’s family thanks the staff of Shepherd of the Valley - Boardman, and the staff of Hospice House, for the kindness shown and care given to Lena during her illness.
