LeRoy H. VanDyke, Jr.

YOUNGSTOWN - LeRoy H. VanDyke Jr., 56, of the city’s west side, passed away Monday morning, April 11, 2016, at his home.

LeRoy, who was known to his family as “Lee,” was born May 21, 1959, in Youngstown, a son of LeRoy Sr. and Ida Gifford VanDyke, and was a lifelong area resident.

He attended Chaney High School and worked in the warehouse for the Tamarkin Company for 27 years. 

Mr. VanDyke loved gardening, fishing, playing the guitar, working on cars with his son, and spending time with his children.

Lee leaves his wife of 36 years, Sherry Arkwright VanDyke, whom he married July 13, 1979 in Cumberland, Maryland; three children, Mary Jane (Dave) Loeb, Rebecca (P.J.) Chance, and Caleb VanDyke, all of Youngstown; four grandchildren, Collin Chance, Halie Chance, Connor Loeb, and Hannah Loeb; his mother, Ida VanDyke; three siblings, Anna (Pete) Roscoe of Struthers, George (Linda) VanDyke of New Middletown, and Phillip VanDyke of Youngstown; and his mother-in-law, Mary Arkwright.

His father, LeRoy VanDyke Sr., preceded Lee in death.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, April 14, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where funeral services will follow at 6 p.m.
