Lawrence "Jeep" McTheny, Jr.

GIRARD - Lawrence “Jeep” McTheny Jr., 56, passed away Friday evening, Aug. 12, 2016, at ValleyCare Northside Medical Center following a brief illness.

Lawrence was born May 11, 1960, in Richfield, the son of the late Lawrence and Reathel “Lisa” Dewees McTheny, and came to this area with his family as a child.

Jeep was self employed in the construction industry for many years.

He loved to listen to music and was an avid guitar player. Jeep greatly enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Jeep leaves to cherish his memory his significant other and companion for 21 years, Cynthia McGuire, with whom he made his home; five children, Cristen Grant of Brookfield, Justin McTheny of West Virginia, Dylan McTheny of Girard, Kayla Boone of Warren, and Douglas McGuire of Girard; 15 grandchildren, including Veronica McTheny whom he raised; a sister, Renee Derr of Cortland; his step-father, Herb Moore of Niles and many extended family members; and many friends.

Jeep will be truly and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Besides his parents, a grandson, Nolan McTheny preceded Jeep in death.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 South State St., Girard, where funeral services will take place at 6 p.m.
