YOUNGSTOWN - Joseph Vivacqua, 88, passed away Tuesday morning, July 12, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, following a long and fulfilling life.

Joseph was born Dec. 20, 1927, in Youngstown, a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Frank Vivacqua, and lived his life in this area except for seven years he spent in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

He was a proud U.S. Army veteran, serving during the mid-1940s, and worked for Conrail for 30 years, retiring at the age of 54 in 1981.

Mr. Vivacqua was a member of St. Brendan Church in Youngstown.

Joe was regarded as a very giving and generous man. He liked to fish, and he loved music and watching sports, especially boxing and football. Mr. Vivacqua liked dancing at the Avon Oaks Ballroom and at Kuzman’s, and he loved attending the Brier Hill festivals. Most of all, he enjoyed the time he spent with his family.

Joe leaves three sons, Joseph M. (Linda) Vivacqua of Poland, Ronald Vivacqua of Youngstown, and Gary J. Vivacqua of Youngstown; two grandchildren, Dayna (Joe) Revetti and Danny Vivacqua; two brothers, Anthony (Barbara) Vivacqua of Boardman and Donald (Isabelle) Vivacqua of Austintown; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members; and his former wife, Theresa Kaytia Vivacqua.

A brother and a sister, George Vivacqua and Mary Mazzeo, are deceased.

Family and friends may call Friday, July 15, from 9 to 9:30 a.m., at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave., Youngstown.

Interment will follow Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
