Dear Hudak Family:

I was saddened to hear of Joe's passing. He was my dad's best friend when they were in the Navy together, and would accompany my dad to his home in Centralia, PA when they were on leave together.

I only had the opportunity to meet him in person once (that I remember), and that was about 15 years ago when he came to the only Keninitz reunion we ever had, at Knoebels Grove amusement park in Elysburg, PA. He surprised each of my three young boys (now 25, 23 and 18) with a $20 bill, demonstrating an amazing generosity. In talking with him at that reunion I realized how he and my dad would have come to be such good friends; he had the same warmth and wit as my dad.

Please accept our family's condolences.

Dear Hudak Family,
Our deepest sympathy to all of you. Your dad and mom were so kind to my mom (Mary Cretella) and mother in law (Anna Bova). Our prayers are with you at this time.
Sincerely,

Just received word of Joe's passing. Please accept my sincere condolences. Although I only met Joe a few times, I could appreciate why he was such a great friend of my Dad. He will be fondly remembered as such.

In the past year or so I have had the pleasure of getting to know you more and more. “Joe”, “Chief”, “Dad” and for me, I will call you “Special”.
You are Special because you truly demonstrated your passion and dedication to life.
You are Special because you served in the Navy for your country, you married and devoted your love to your wife for 53 years.
You are Special because you lead by example, worked hard and provided for your family.
You are Special because you were a great father to your children Carolyn and Greg and wonderful grandfather to Grace.
You are Special because you were kind, witty and funny to the staff taking recent care of you.
You are truly Special, that I had the pleasure of learning so much about you, a man with so much kindness, love, strength, smart minded and the will for life. Rest assure, your family is truly proud of you, your dedication and love for them.
I could only wish through my journey of life, I can be half the person you are.
“Special”, your duties here amongst us is now complete, we are honoured. We are at peace knowing that you will now be with your wife, family and friends who have gone before us.
Continue to watch over us especially Carolyn, Jack, Grace and Greg and guide them along that great path that you walked before them.

May God sprinkle you with his blessings as he welcomes you and that you may continue to be YOU! , Joe, Chief, Dad and Special!

A Friend Always!

Saddened to hear of Joe's passing. He was a frequent visitor to Brine Pharmacy---always pleasant and asking how everyone was doing. I still remember him stopping by telling us he was moving and wishing us all well--a true gentleman. May he rest in peace

To Carolyn and Family,
You have our deepest regrets on the loss of your father. May he Rest In Peace. We will always remember how friendly he was to everyone. When we would run into him he was always so welcoming. Sorry we were unable to attend his calling hours.

I was so very sorry to hear of Joe's passing. My sister Elaine (Hudak) Izzi called to tell us. I will always remember the times when I would see him in Girard somewhere and he would always ask how my family was: my mom, dad, and my son Karl. That was so sweet of him. He was a such a sweet man.
