WARREN - John A. Spatar Sr., 66, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, June 10, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

John was born July 25, 1950, in Youngstown, a son of the late George and Loretta Liberatore Spatar, and was a lifelong area resident.

He was a 1968 graduate of Girard High School and worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier for 36 years, retiring in 2005. During his retirement, John delivered flowers for Creative Design & Floral in Niles.

Mr. Spatar was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard. Very social and active in the community, John was also a member of the Mahoning Valley Burger Guyz and of Girard Eagles Aerie No. 2172. He was a Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree member of Youngstown Council No. 274, was a NALC Union official, and had been coach and president of the Girard Little Indians football program.

John was a fan of the Youngstown State University Penguins, and was a model train afficionado. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

A generous and thoughtful man, John donated his organs so others may have a chance to live.

He leaves his wife of 38 years, Peggy Foerster Spatar whom he married in 1978; his son, John Spatar Jr. at home; a brother, George Spatar of Girard; many extended family members; and many friends.

John will be truly and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Besides his parents, a daughter, Shari Lynn, preceded him in death.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m., and from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, June 19, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., Girard.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 20, at the funeral, and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Rose Church, 48 E. Main St., Girard.

Due to his sudden passing, in lieu of flowers John’s family suggests memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to help with final expenses. Memorial contributions may also be made to LifeBanc, 4775 Richmond Rd., Cleveland, OH 44128.
