Joan A. Schneider

AUSTINTOWN - Joan A. Schneider, 82, of Forest Hill Dr., passed away late Friday evening, Jan. 13, 2017, at Hospice House.

Joan was born June 25, 1934, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late George and Marion Williams Schinker, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Schneider was a 1952 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and worked for the Youngstown Vindicator in the classified advertising department, retiring in 1997.

Joan was a master gardener, a gourmet cook, and she enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren.

Her husband of nearly 55 years, Paul N. Schneider, whom she married Sept. 18, 1953, passed away July 20, 2008.

Joan leaves her daughter, Pamela (Michael) Pechalk of Cranberry, Pa.; two grandchildren, Allison (Jason) Griffith of Cleveland and Christopher (Dana) Pechalk of Franklin Park, Pa.; three great-grandchildren, Cameron and Sadie Pechalk, and Jacob Griffith; and two brothers, John (Georgia) Schinker of Boardman and William (Ann) Schinker of Austintown.

Besides her husband, Joan was preceded in death by a brother, George Schinker.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 29, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, and are welcome to stay for a memorial service that will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
