Jean M. Pompura
July 8, 1932 ~ November 18, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years OldAUSTINTOWN - Jean M. Pompura, 85, passed away peacefully early Saturday evening, Nov. 18, 2017, at her home.
Jean was born July 8, 1932, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late John and Nell Perkins McKenna, and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a graduate of Ursuline High School, and was a homemaker who also worked in the medical records department at St. Elizabeth Health Center, retiring in 1997.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Austintown, where she was a volunteer offertory counter. Mrs. Pompura was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies’ Auxiliary.
Jean enjoyed reading, crocheting, and travel, and she loved to go on cruises and to Las Vegas.
Jean leaves her husband of 64 years, Stephen A. Pompura, whom she married on Valentine’s Day in 1953; seven children, Stephen R. (Gertrude Thomae) Pompura of Nashville, Tenn., Susan (Fred) Hunsinger of Charlotte, N.C., Judy (Guy) Sauceman of Youngstown, Joann (Fred) Carnivale of Austintown, Edward Pompura of Austintown, Maureen (Jack) Vindvamara of Westerville, and Meg Pompura of Austintown; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Diana Dusa of Indianapolis.
A sister, Joan Samay, is deceased.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd. in Youngstown.
Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 22, at the funeral home, and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 4545 New Rd., Austintown.
Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown.
