Janice M. Cassidy

BOARDMAN - Janice M. Cassidy, 82, passed away peacefully Friday morning, June 30, 2017, at her home with her family by her side.

Janice was born Jan. 9, 1935, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late George and Mae Coller Swimmer, and lived most of her life in the area, spending five years in Las Vegas.

Janice was a graduate of Struthers High School, and was a partner in her husband’s business, Tracey Concessions Food Vending. She also worked for Serex, for Arizona Charlie’s Casino in Las Vegas, and in her younger years, she was a bookkeeper for Youngstown Sheet & Tube.

Mrs. Cassidy was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church, where she married her husband. Janice loved cooking and baking for her family, and she enjoyed playing cards with her girlfriends. She also loved animals, especially caring for her dogs.

Janice leaves her husband of 63 years, James G. Cassidy, whom she married Feb. 12, 1954; three children, James R. (Shelley) Cassidy of Youngstown, Timothy B. (Carla) Cassidy of Akron, and Tracey G. (Ken) Altman of New York City; two grandchildren, Deanna and Kaylyn; and her dog, Maggie.

Janice was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Swimmer.

There are no calling hours. Private graveside services will take place at Hubbard Union Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.
