James P. Kuzman, Sr.

GIRARD - James P. Kuzman Sr., 88, passed away peacefully, Sunday afternoon, June 18, 2017, at Heritage Manor in Youngstown.

James was born Aug. 25, 1928, in Girard, a son of the late Angelo and Mary Gallagher Kuzman, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Kuzman proudly served his country in the U.S. Merchant Marine, and worked at General Motors in Lordstown, retiring in 1990.

James was an avid golfer and a Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns fan. He enjoyed gardening and, most of all, enjoyed the time he spent with his family.

He was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard.

His wife of 40 years, Patricia Powers Kuzman, whom he married in November of 1963, passed away July 20, 2004.

Mr. Kuzman leaves three children, Patty (Tony) DiTommaso of Hubbard, Jim (Abraham Perez) Kuzman of Girard, and Kathleen Kuzman of Girard; three grandchildren, Missy Gasior of Spartanburg, So. Car., Caitlin Smathers of Girard, and James Patrick Kuzman III of Girard; two great-grandchildren, Todd Gasior and Axel Smathers; a brother, Bob (Barb) Kuzman of Girard; and a sister, Catherine DeMas of Girard.

Besides his wife, two sisters, Madeline Catone and Margaret Rex, and three brothers, John, George, and Bill Kuzman, preceded James in death.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 21, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., Girard. Family and friends may also call from noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, June 22, at the funeral home, where funeral services will take place at 1 p.m.

Interment with military honors will follow at Belmont Park Cemetery where James will be laid to rest next to his wife.
