Jacqueline Mae "Jackie" Renda

PERRYSBURG - Jacqueline Mae “Jackie”  Renda, 87, formerly of Youngstown, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, April 2, 2017, at Kingston Residence of Perrysburg, after a brief illness. 

Jackie was born Jan. 14, 1930, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late John Thomas and Irene Mae Gillespie Milligan, and was a lifelong area resident. 

As a child growing up during the Great Depression, Jackie was proud to have attended a one-room schoolhouse near her parents’ gas station in Beloit and to have graduated from Canfield High School in 1947. 

Jackie met the love of her life, Carmen J. Renda Sr. at Idora Park. They were married May 28, 1949, at St. Patrick Church in Youngstown, the same church her grandfather helped build many years earlier. Carmen and Jackie enjoyed nearly 66 years of marriage until his passing exactly two years ago, April 2, 2015. 

Jackie worked at the Kresge Department Store in downtown Youngstown for several years before dedicating her life to raising and caring for her family. Mrs. Renda was a member of the now Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Holy Name of Jesus Church on the west side of Youngstown for more than 40 years.  

Jackie’s kind heart and quick Irish wit endeared her to everyone she met. She enjoyed taking road trips with her husband and children to historical sites throughout the country, and was an avid collector of dolls and figurines. Jackie was extremely proud of her sons. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, James (Paula) Renda of Waterville, Lee (Heather) Renda of Youngstown, and John (Patricia) Renda of Austintown: a daughter-in-law, Janice Renda of Youngstown; 10 grandchildren, Pamela Renda (Robert Colapietro) of Youngstown, Benjamin Renda of Sylvania, Jamie Renda of Waterville, Kristen Renda of Toledo, Holly Renda (Mark Stillson), Christopher Renda, and Scott Renda of Youngstown, Jillian Renda (Jake DiEugenio) of Columbus, Michelle Renda and Hallie Renda of Austintown; great-grandchildren, Oona Renda, Josie Phillips, and Robbie Colapietro; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. Jackie was also particularly close to her goddaughter and niece, Mary James of Phoenix.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jackie was preceded in death by sons, Carmen J. Renda Jr. and Donald R. Renda; her stepfather, Arthur Birch; a sister, Wilma Milligan West; her brother, Robert Birch; a daughter-in-law, Katherine (Lee) Renda; and great-grandchildren, Matthew and April Stillson. 

Family and friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, April 7, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, where a celebration of Jackie’s life will take place at 1 p.m. 

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Jackie will be laid to rest next to her husband.
