Florence G. Nigro

NORTH LIMA - Florence G. Nigro, 95, formerly of Youngstown’s west side, passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 17, 2016, at Briarfield Manor in Austintown.

Florence was born Nov. 22, 1921, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Vincent and Elvera Arcomano Severino, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a homemaker who also worked at U.S. Steel, McDonald Works for 40 years, retiring as Head Key Punch Operator.

Florence was active at the Glenellen Senior Living Community in North Lima, where she lived, and she delivered the daily mail and newspapers, and helped her fellow residents.

Mrs. Nigro was a longtime member of St. Brendan Church in Youngstown.

Her husband of 47 years, Michael A. Nigro, whom she married Oct. 12, 1951, passed away March 20, 1999.

Mrs. Nigro leaves four nephews and a niece, Vincent Severino of California, JoAnn Vicarel of University Heights, George Denino of Westerville, Edward Denino of Florida, and Anthony Severino of Youngstown.

Besides her husband, three brothers, John, Dominic, and Anthony Severino, and two sisters, Phyllis Denino and Elvera Genaro, preceded her in death.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, Dec. 27, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home, and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave, Youngstown.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Florence will be laid to rest next to her husband.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Nigro’s name to the Church at Glenellen, 9661 Market St., North Lima, OH 44452.
