Elizabeth D. "Bette" Maino

NORTH LIMA - Elizabeth D. “Bette” Maino, 78, passed away Wednesday morning, Aug. 3, 2016, at Ivy Woods Manor following an extended illness.

Elizabeth was born Oct. 6, 1937, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Joseph and Esther Rossi Maino, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1955 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, earned a bachelor degree in education from Youngstown University in 1959, and began her teaching career shortly thereafter.  She subsequently furthered her education and earned a masters degree.

Bette will be remembered as a talented artist who specialized in painting, mosaics, and ceramics. She enjoyed drawing, writing letters, and participating in activities during her stay at Ivy Woods.

Bette was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown.

She leaves her sister, Theresa Hill of Austintown; a niece, Gianna Hill of Seattle; and many cousins and friends.

Besides her parents, a niece, Justine Hill, and a brother-in-law, Robert Hill, preceded her in death. 

Family and friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 7, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 North Meridian Road, Youngstown.

Funeral services will take place Monday at the funeral home at 11 a.m.

Committal services will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.

Bette’s family thanks the staff at Ivy Woods Manor for the kindness and love shown, and exceptional care given to “Liz” during her lengthy stay there.
