CANFIELD - Elizabeth A. Dolak, 91, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, Jan. 15, 2017.

Elizabeth was born March 5, 1925, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Charles T. and Margaret McGuire Foley, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1943 graduate of Chaney High School. Following graduation, Elizabeth worked at General Fireproofing, supporting the effort of the United States during World War II.

Elizabeth was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was a dedicated wife and homemaker. After raising her family, Elizabeth worked for a number of years for Woolworth’s, and then for Strouss’ Department Store in downtown Youngstown, in the silver department.

Betty was an avid reader, especially enjoying both local and American history. Later in life, she enjoyed playing bingo with her friends at Windsor Estates in New Middletown.

Elizabeth was a longtime member of St. Michael Church where she was an active participant in the Altar Guild.

Betty's high school sweetheart and husband of 61 years, Joseph S. Dolak, whom she married July 15, 1944, passed away Dec. 5, 2005.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, James J. (Linda) Dolak of Poland and Gary E. (Melanie) Dolak of Leetonia; four grandchildren, Lisa (Damian) Davenport of Salt Lake City, Bethany Dolak of Canton, Corey (Sarah) Dolak of Strongsville, and Ryan (Ashley) Dolak of Margate, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Fletcher Davenport, Ellie Dolak, and Trent Dolak; and a brother, John Edward (Arlene) Foley of Ellsworth.

Besides her husband, her brother, Charles Thomas Foley, and her sister, Kathleen Mary Kurtz, preceded her in death.

Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at St. Michael Church, 300 N. Broad St. Canfield, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, where Betty will be laid to rest next to her husband.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Elizabeth's family would like to thank the administrators and staff of Windsor Estates for the quality care and support provided during the time she lived there. Betty’s family also thanks Masternick Memorial Health Care Center and Hospice of the Valley, for the support and excellent end-of-life care provided.

In lieu of flowers, Betty’s family requests memorial contributions  be made to the Resident Activity Fund at Windsor Estates Assisted Living, 5240 Windsor Way, New Middletown, OH 44442.
