Doris M. Mikovich

AUSTINTOWN - Doris M. Mikovich, 87, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, June 5, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Doris was born Jan. 16, 1930, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Sal and Frances Resatar Napolitan. She spent much of her life in this area, as well as living in Florida and North Carolina for a time.

Mrs. Mikovich was a 1948 graduate of The Rayen School, and was a loving wife and homemaker who also worked for 17 years at the General Electric Austintown Coil Plant, retiring in 1992.

Doris enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, cooking, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family. 

She was a member of St. Brendan Church in Youngstown. 

Doris leaves her beloved husband of nearly 67 years, John J. Mikovich, whom she married July 8, 1950; seven children, John Mikovich of Florida, Shirley (Fred) Merlo of Austintown, Donna (Mike) O’Neil of Virginia, Gary Mikovich of Florida, Mark (Debi) Mikovich of Florida, Joel (Kristen) Mikovich of North Carolina, and Alan (Michele) Mikovich of Canfield; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Eleanor Russell; and a sister-in-law, Lee Napolitan.

Doris was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Napolitan.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, June 9, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave., Youngstown.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
