Donald F. Timlin

AUSTINTOWN - Donald F. Timlin, 90, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, Feb. 5, 2016, at Select Specialty Hospital in Youngstown.

Donald was born Dec. 29, 1925, in Youngstown, a son of the late Frank G. and Catherine B. Lodwick Timlin. He was raised in the city’s Brier Hill neighborhood, attended nearby Ursuline High School, and was a lifelong area resident.

Don worked as a letter carrier for 41-and-a-half years with the United States Postal Service in both Youngstown and Boardman, and retired on Dec. 28, 1984.

Mr. Timlin was a member of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church in Austintown, where he was a longtime volunteer with the church’s pyrohy and bingo projects, and with the annual parish festival.

Donald leaves his wife of 66 years, Josephine “Josie” Powlysyn Timlin, whom he married May 28, 1949; a brother, Thomas (Katherine) Timlin of Canfield; and several nieces and nephews, including Dorothy Fedina (John) Barak of Avon and Catherine Timlin (James) Hebb of Austintown.

Three brothers, Arnold, Frank, and Robert Timlin, are deceased.

Family and friends may call from 10:30 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 9, at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, on the corner of Kirk and Raccoon Roads in Austintown, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m.

Don’s family thanks the staff at Select Specialty Hospital and at St. Elizabeth Health Center, for the kindness shown and care given to Mr. Timlin and his family.
