Dolores A. "Dee" Scotchie
September 23, 1929 ~ May 17, 2016 (age 86) 86 Years OldLIBERTY TOWNSHIP - Dolores A. “Dee” Scotchie, 86, passed away late Tuesday evening, May 17, 2016, at her home with her family by her side, following a lengthy illness.
Dolores was born Sept. 23, 1929, in Sacramento, California, a daughter of the late George and Dorothy LaPape Mariante, and came to this area in 1956.
Dee was a graduate of Sacramento High School in California, and she worked at Selective Service System in Sacramento for five years. She was also featured with the San Francisco Opera for many years. Locally, Dee was employed by the City of Youngstown Police Department as a crime prevention specialist, and was publisher of the Golden Gazette for 25 years, a position she was passionate about and enjoyed very much. Dee retired in 2009.
Mrs. Scotchie was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard.
She greatly enjoyed shopping, watching golf on TV, square dancing, clogging, flowers, and gardening. Dee was also very fond of her monthly lunch outings with her girlfriends, and enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends.
Dee leaves her husband of 63 years, Frank Scotchie, whom she married March 3, 1953; two daughters, Deborah (Joseph) Vizi of Campbell and Michelle Durfee of Cuyahoga Falls; seven grandchildren, Brandy Jovingo, Bradley Vizi, Brittianey Vizi, Dillon Vizi, Alex Keister, Eilise Keister, and Taylor Vizi; two great-grandchildren, Lorali Hamner and Levi Jovingo; and her very special friends, Julia Simon, Kathy Farkas, Marion Yazbek, and Laura Brown
A brother, George Mariante, preceded Dee in death.
Family and friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m., Monday, May 23, at St. Rose Church, 48 East Main Street, Girard, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown.
In lieu of flowers Dee’s family suggests memorial contributions be made in her name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., Girard.
