Dolores M. Basic
March 5, 1932 ~ May 18, 2016 (age 84) 84 Years OldBOARDMAN - Dolores M. Basic, 84, passed away Wednesday evening, May 18, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
Dolores was born March 5, 1932, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Michael and Pauline Reduga Palusak, and was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Basic was a 1950 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. She worked at various food stores and supermarkets as a cashier for 36 years, and was a member of United Foods and Commercial Workers (UFCW), Local No. 880.
Dolores also co-owned Danica Tavern and Basic Barbeque with her late husband.
She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Youngstown, and she belonged to St. George Croatian Lodge, No. 66, on Vestal Road in Youngstown.
Her husband, Thomas Basic, passed away Sept. 23, 1991.
Dolores leaves her brother and sister-in-law, Michael A. and Helen Palusak of Campbell; a nephew, David Palusak; and two nieces, Cara and Caitlin Palusak.
Besides her husband, a nephew, Jeffry Palusak, D.D.S., is deceased.
There were no calling hours. Private services were held Saturday, May 21, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
Mrs. Basic’s family expresses gratitude to the staff with Greenbriar Center, for the kindness shown and care given to Dolores during her stay there.
