YOUNGSTOWN - David A. Senchesak, 66, of the city’s west side, passed away early Saturday morning, April 30, 2016, at his home with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.

David was born May 20, 1949, in Youngstown, a son of the late Metro and Ann Marie Lasko Senchesak, and was a lifelong area resident.

Dave graduated from Chaney High School in 1967. He subsequently served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded three Purple Hearts.

Mr. Senchesak worked for 37 years with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 2010.

David was a member of St. Christine Church in Youngstown. He was a member of Catholic War Veterans, John J. Buckley Post, No. 1292, in Youngstown, and he was a member since 1971 of the Youngstown DAV, Chapter 2. Dave was also a member of the Vietnam Vets of America, and he was a proud fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Dave is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Margaret Gorman Senchesak, whom he married May 15, 1976; three sons, Daniel Senchesak of Aurora, Timothy (Christa Franklin) Senchesak of Youngstown, and Thomas Senchesak of Youngstown; a granddaughter, Gabryella Senchesak; two brothers, Dennis (Betty) Senchesak of Garfield Heights and Daniel Senchesak of Youngstown; and several nieces and nephews.
                        
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m., Wednesday, May 4, at the funeral home, and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Christine Church on South Schenley Avenue in Youngstown.

Committal services with military honors will take place Thursday, May 5, at 12:30 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
