MASURY, OH - David Fred Ames Rupert, Sr., 79, passed away early Tuesday morning, Nov. 17, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, following an extended illness.

David was born Feb. 1, 1936, in Jamestown, New York, a son of the late Rev. Ernest Victor Rupert Sr. and Marjory Ames Rupert. He moved to Farrell, Pa. with his family as a child, and lived in Masury, Ohio, for the past 40-plus years.

Dave was a 1955 graduate of Farrell Senior High School and received the Westinghouse Award for Outstanding Industrial Arts student. He subsequently worked for 30 years for the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad, and he also worked as a licensed electrician, plumber, and carpenter.

He was a member of the former Farrell United Methodist Church, where his father had been pastor for 25 years, and he was also a member of Wheatland United Methodist Church, where his father had served as interim pastor.

Dave loved life, and had a strong will to live. An intellectual, he had a passion for politics and history, and he enjoyed sharing his viewpoints and opinions with others. David was a model railroad enthusiast, and was a member of the Mahoning Valley Model Railroad Heritage Association. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his large family, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Mr. Rupert leaves his beloved wife of 41 years, Dolores Mizicko Rupert, whom he married Aug. 2, 1974; two daughters, Evelyn (Walter) Faria and Susan (James) Morgan, both of New Castle; a son, David Fred Ames Rupert Jr. of Brookfield; two stepsons, Norman J. Jr. (Maria) Abraham and Michael J. (Kris) Abraham of Brookfield; a stepdaughter, Lucille Borris of Masury; 12 grandchildren, Benjamin, Tyler, Jennifer, Amy, Mitchell, Alexis, Emily, Ryan, Alyssa, Anthony, Dane, and Grant; a great-grandson, Aiden Michael; three sisters, Marie Reinhoudt of Fredonia, New York, Arlene (George) Summerhill of Reno, Nevada, Marjory Burke of Plattsburg, New York, and a sister-in-law, Oleah Rupert of Mobile, Ala.; a brother, Mark (Sandy) Rupert of Sun City, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.

David was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Victor Rupert Jr.; a sister, Alice Rupert Emad; brothers-in-law, Roger Burke and Donald Reinhoudt; a grandson, Timothy; and a great-granddaughter, Aleah Nicole.

Per David’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. Private services will be held at a later date.
