GIRARD - Cecil A. Gilpin, 82, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, Jan. 13, 2017, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Poland, surrounded by his loving family.

Cecil was born Oct. 22, 1934, in Grantsville, Md., a son of the late Joseph A. and Pauline Carroll Gilpin, and came to this area in the late 1950s.

Mr. Gilpin worked for Commercial Intertech as a press operator for 41 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union.

He greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his greatest love was his family. Cecil was a wonderful husband and father, and greatly enjoyed the times he spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

His wife, Ruth Grove Gilpin, whom he married April 20, 1957, passed away Feb. 5, 2007.

Cecil leaves to cherish his memory three children, Thomas (Tina) Gilpin of Struthers, Sharon (Scott) Wolford of Washingtonville, and William (Teresa) Gilpin of Girard; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, a daughter, Debra Lynn; his stepmother, Susie Gilpin; two brothers, John and Curt Gilpin; and two sisters, Francis Sweitzer and Freda Rexrode, preceded Cecil in death,

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 15, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State Street, Girard,

Family and friends may also call from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 16, at the funeral home, where funeral services will take place at 11 a.m.
