Carol L. Zurcher

AUSTINTOWN - Carol L. Zurcher, 72, passed away Thursday evening, Oct. 6, 2016, at Vista Center at the Ridge following an extended illness, with her family by her side.

Carol was born May 18, 1944, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Dean and Olive Miller Pflugh, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1962 graduate of Chaney High School, and worked at the former St. Elizabeth Hospital in admissions before dedicating the rest of her life to raising and caring for her family.

Carol was a member of the American Women’s Business Association, Mill Creek Chapter. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, doll collecting, and she loved being with her family and friends.

She leaves two daughters, twins Melonie (Joel) Torres of Austintown and Melissa Zurcher of Youngstown; a son, Dean (Angie) Zurcher of Canfield; six grandchildren, Sierra, David, Maddie, Dean, Mariah, and Justin; three sisters, Shirley Pappagallo of Austintown, Roberta Nelson of Youngstown, and Susan (Jack) Ohlin of New Middletown; a brother, David (Kathy) Pflugh of Boardman; several nieces and nephews; and two longtime friends, Nancy Kovach and Elaine McCloskey.

Per Carol’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
