YOUNGSTOWN - Burton L. Myers, 69, passed away early Thursday evening, April 6, 2017, at Hospice House following a lengthy illness.

Burton was born April 23, 1947, in Kenton, a son of the late Lawrence “Barney” and Mary Jane Bayliff Myers, and came to Youngstown in the late 1960s.

Mr. Myers was a 1966 graduate of Avon Lake High School and proudly served in the United States Army for 24 years, spending 18 months in Vietnam, retiring in 1998.

Burt worked locally in construction, and more recently as a driver for Auto Zone in Austintown.

He was a member of St. Brendan Church and served on its parish council.

Mr. Myers enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, and he liked to visit the casino at Mountaineer Park in West Virginia. He also enjoyed stock car racing, particularly NASCAR, and he loved family gatherings.

Burt leaves his wife of 28 years, Carol Lautner Myers, whom he married March 11, 1989; three step-sons, Craig (Jeane) Lynn of Canfield, Daniel Lynn of Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Raymond (Jen) Capezutto; a step-daughter, Melissa Rickard; step-grandchildren, Bryce, Brock, Kylie, Karleesa, Kamden, Koryana, Jacob, and Joseph; five brothers, Ronald (Kay) Myers of Mount Blachard, Jack Myers of Arkansas, Billy (Kaylee) Myers of Austintown, Tim (Michelle) Myers of Massillon, and Michael (Sharae) Myers of Lexington, Ky.; a sister, Donna Gilgenbach of Leipsic; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Audrey and Chuck Lautner of Youngstown; and many extended family members and friends.

Besides his parents, a brother, Richard “Dick” Myers, is deceased.

Family and friends may gather from 3:30 to 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, at St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave., Youngstown, where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m., followed by military honors.

Arrangements were entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Although flowers are a wonderful tribute, Mr. Myers family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Burt’s name to St. Brendan Church Memorial Fund, or to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Rd., Youngstown, OH 44514.
