GIRARD - Betty J. Brockman, 91, passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 29, 2017, at Northside Medical Center, with her family by her side following a brief illness.

Betty was born Feb. 19, 1925, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Lloyd E. and Loretta Billock Brauninger, and lived in the area most of her life.

She was a 1943 graduate of Ursuline High School and worked at Standard Slag after graduation. Betty later worked for Snyder Bentley and Choffin Sprinkler in inside sales, and then was employed by Northside Medical Center in Family Practice.

Mrs. Brockman was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard.

She enjoyed working, shopping, and attending the Indy 500 and Formula One auto races. Betty loved life and she greatly enjoyed the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, who were her world.

Her husband, George H. Brockman Sr., whom she married July 21, 1945, passed away Sept. 3, 1987.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory a son, Lawrence (Mary) Brockman of Girard; three grandchildren, Jacob, Zachary, and Maria Rose; a sister, Agnes Doubet of Walnut Creek, Calif.; a niece and several nephews; and a daughter-in-law, Gale Howe of Cincinnati.

Betty will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A son, George H. Brockman Jr.; a sister, Catherine Foley; and a brother, Lloyd “Buzz” Brauninger Jr., preceded Betty in death.

Family and friends may gather from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 1, at St. Rose Church, 48 E. Main St., Girard, where a Memorial Mass will follow at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, Betty’s family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Emmanuel Community Care Center, 2 N. State St., Girard, OH 44420.

Betty’s family would like to thank the staff in ICU at Northside Medical Center for the compassionate care given to Betty and her family during her stay there.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., in Girard.
