AUSTINTOWN - Arthur J. Leach, 85, passed away early Friday morning, Dec. 2, 2016, at Hospice House, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Arthur was born Nov. 3, 1931, in Erie, Pa., a son of the late George and Florence Bachelor Leach, graduated from Cathedral Prep High School in Erie, and came to Austintown in 1971.

Mr. Leach was the owner/operator of Leach Beer Company in Erie, and later worked as a security officer at the General Motors Fisher Body Plant in Lordstown, from where he retired.

Art was very involved in the Catholic Church as an usher and a reader. He coached baseball and soccer, was passionate about family, faith, and friends, and he enjoyed golf, soccer, and reading.

He leaves his wife of 63 years, Lois Recker Leach, who was his high school sweetheart and whom he married Sept. 7, 1953; two children, Daniel (Suzanne) Leach North Olmsted and Mary Seybert of Canfield; grandchildren, Daniel (Brandie) Leach, David (Anne) Leach, and Dana (Jason) Crowe, and Joey Bobby, Dylan, Emma, Brandon, and Carmen Seybert; and great-grandchildren, Landon, Cecilia, Andrew, Alex, Declan, Siena, and Kayden.

A sister, Jane Taylor, and a brother, Robert Leach, preceded Art in death.

Family and friends may gather from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 9, at St. Michael Church on Main Street in Canfield, where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m.

Although flowers are a beautiful tribute, Arthur’s family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512; or to the donor’s favorite charity.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.
