YOUNGSTOWN - Andrew Fusco, 94, of the city’s west side, passed away late Tuesday morning, April 5, 2016, at Austinwoods Healthcare Center, with his family by his side after a long and amazing life.

Andrew was born Nov. 11, 1921, in Uniontown, Pa., a son of the late Andrew and Mary Fesketti Fusco, and came to this area with his family as a child.

Andy was the owner/operator of Fusco Sand & Limestone Company for over 50 years. A member of the Youngstown/Warren Inventors Club, he was an ambitious inventor who held several patents from the U.S. Patent Office, including Valve-Sta that was used on semi-truck tires.

Mr. Fusco was a member of St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie in Girard, the West Side Merchants in Youngstown, and the Steel Valley Harmonica Club.

After his retirement from trucking, Andy maintained an active lifestyle pursuing his interests and spending time with his family. He will always be remembered for his art of reasoning, amazing wit, unique personality, and unforgettable smile.

Throughout his life, Andy touched many lives and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Andy’s wife of 60 years, Ann O. Makar Fusco, whom he married July 24, 1941, passed away Nov. 1, 2001.

Mr. Fusco leaves four daughters, Marianne Presley of Austintown, Andrea "Andy" Hvisdak of Youngstown, Darlene Corfman of Deerfield, and Lori Probst of Poland; 10 grandchildren, Andrew Oliva, Todd Oliva, Marc Andrew (Shannon) Presley, Marla Presley, Adam Hvisdak, Jacob Hvisdak (Ashley), Stacey (Joseph) Sepko, Thomas Andrew Probst, Michael Probst, and Jennifer Probst; nine great-grandchildren, Macailin, Hunter, Nevaeha, Rylee, Alexis, Gianna, Joseph, Andrew, and Christopher; a brother, Frank Fusco of Youngstown; a sister, Mary McInnis of Girard; many extended family members; and many, many friends.

Besides his wife, Andy was preceded in death by eight siblings, and a son-in-law, Bob Hvisdak.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, April 8, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 11:45 a.m., Saturday, April 9, at the funeral home, and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. at St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown.

Interment will follow at Sts. Peter & Paul  Cemetery in Youngstown, where Andy will be laid to rest next to his wife.                    

Mr. Fusco’s family sends sincere thanks to the entire staff at Austinwoods for the kindness shown and exceptional care given to Andy and his family during his stay.
