YOUNGSTOWN - Mary L. Kritzer, 81, formerly of South Evanston Avenue on the city’s westside, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 6, 2011, at Briarfield Manor in Austintown.

Mary was born June 8, 1929 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Yobe Belcik, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a homemaker who also worked in the laundry department at St. Elizabeth Health Center for 18 years, retiring in 1994.

Mary was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Church, its Rosary Society and its Senior Citizens Group.

Mary leaves her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kathy Kritzer of Willoughby Hills; her daughter, Diane Kritzer of Cornersburg; her granddaughter, Sheena (James) Balog; her great-grandson, Austin James Balog; a sister, Agnes (Mike) Puhala of Struthers; a brother, Michael (Margaret) Belcik of Poland; and several nieces and nephews.

A sister, Anna Mae Young, is deceased.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Friday, April 8, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown.

Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home and continue at 10 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 613 N. Lakeview Ave., Youngstown.

Anna Kucalaba, 92

YOUNGSTOWN - Anna Kucalaba, 92, formerly of South Schenley Avenue, passed away Thursday morning, March 31, 2011, in Alliance after a lengthy illness.

Anna was born May 1, 1918 in Ukraine, a daughter of the late Theodore and Marie Kavesky, came to America and Youngstown in 1948. She lived in Youngstown until moving to Alliance in 2009.

Mrs. Kucalaba was a homemaker and a member of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Youngstown. She was a charter member of the St. Anne Guild and was a volunteer for the parish pyrohy project. Anna was also a former member of S.U.M.A. and the Ukrainian Congress Committee.

Anna leaves a son, Raymond (Linda) Kucabala of Canfield; a daughter, Mary Ann (Vincent) Huwig of Alliance; seven grandchildren, Jean Kuper, Steven Huwig and Kathy Huber, Mark Kucalaba, JoAnn Blakeman, and Luke and June Kucalaba; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Anna will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her husband, Wasyl Kucalaba, whom she married in 1945, passed away in 1978. A son, Michael Kusalaba passed away in 2009.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where the St. Anne Guild will recite the rosary at 4:30 p.m. and where a prayer service will take place at 6 p.m.

Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home, and will continue at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church on Rayen Avenue.

Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown.

George Joseph Nagy, 81

YOUNGSTOWN - George J. Nagy, 81, formerly of Manhattan Avenue on the city’s westside, passed away Wednesday evening, March 30, 2011, at Hospice House.

George was born March 12, 1930 in Youngstown, a son of the late Gabor and Helen Rohly Nagy, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Nagy was a 1948 graduate of Chaney High School, where he starred in baseball. Following graduation, George worked for Truscon Steel in the early 1950s, and then became self-employed, owning and operating George’s Golf Repairs in Youngstown for many years, where he assembled and repaired golf clubs.

George’s adult life was golf, and he also played softball for Aerolite and for Hutch Manufacturing.

He was a member of St. George Byzantine Catholic Church, and attended Holy Name of Jesus Church in Youngstown.

George leaves a brother, William Nagy of Austintown; a sister, Mary Vargo of Hubbard; 15 nieces and nephews; 24 great-nieces and great-nephews; and nine great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

George will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Three brothers, Zoltan, George Edward, and Dezo Nagy, and two sisters, Pearl Denison and Frances Rosky, are deceased.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, where a prayer service will take place at 5 p.m.

Funeral services will begin on Monday (4/4) at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home, and continue at noon at St. George Byzantine Catholic Church, 1726 Canfield Road in Youngstown.

Glen Camille El-Hayek, 33

CANFIELD - Glen Camille El-Hayek, 33, died recently in Shanghai, China, where he was working for Microsoft.

Glen was born Feb. 7, 1978 in Youngstown, a son of Dr. and Mrs. Salim El-Hayek (Annette).

A 1996 honor graduate of Boardman High School, Glen went on to pursue studies at Colorado State University. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. Following graduation, Glen worked as a software developer in Roseville, California for Hewlett Packard and then for Wachter Technologies where he helped develop software that made online trading possible. Since 2003, Glen worked for Microsoft Corporation first in Redmond, Washington, and then in Shanghai as Senior Test Lead in Research and Development. He was also pursuing an Executive MBA at the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business. While he mainly studied at the Singapore campus, he also rotated through the London and Chicago campuses.

Glen has been described by his friends as "larger than life," and indeed, he lived life to its fullest. As a child he was a champion Scottish Highland Dancer and later became a champion skier. He was a ski patroller in both California and Washington and was trained in search and rescue. He also worked on Habitat for Humanity and Microsoft-sponsored goodwill endeavors, including the relief effort for the earthquake-shattered city of Chengdu, China.

Over the past decade Glen traveled the globe extensively for work and pleasure, making new friends wherever he went. Despite constantly being on the move, he always tried to attend friends’ weddings whether they occurred in the United States or in Karachi, Pakistan. Besides English, Glen also spoke French, Spanish and Mandarin.

Glen is survived by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Salim El-Hayek (Annette) of Canfield; a brother and sister-in-law Dr. & Mrs. Kevin El-Hayek (Raechel); and his nieces, Keira Marie and Alison Kate, each of Cleveland.

Glen was in the process of relocating to New York City to be closer to his family. He will be forever remembered as a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and friend.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd. in Youngstown. Arrangements are pending and will be published at later date.

Visits to Glen’s family and the outpouring of support and many gestures of kindness have been overwhelmingly comforting to the El-Hayek family. At this time, Glen’s family requests privacy in their home, yet will receive condolences on Saturday, April 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. and on Sunday, April 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Arab-American Community Center, 15 Belgrade Street, in Liberty Township, just off Belmont Avenue.

Ruth Ann Kolesar, 83

YOUNGSTOWN - Ruth Ann Kolesar, 83, of the city’s west side, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 29, 2011, at the Cleveland Clinic following a brief illness.

Ruth was born Sept. 28, 1927 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Michael and Ruth Vasko Kolesar, and lived in the family home on Silliman Street with her sister, Mary Lou, until 2010.

She was a graduate of St. Rita School for the Deaf in Cincinnati, and was a lifelong devout member of Holy Name of Jesus Church.

She enjoyed walking, playing the lottery, and supporting Catholic missions.

Ruth leaves a brother-in-law, Charles J. Kuharich Sr. of Austintown; three nephews, Raymond (Diane) Kuharich of Austintown, Dennis Bacak of Youngstown, and Jack Bacak of North Carolina; four nieces, Mary Ann (Peter) Gordick of Cape Coral, Fla., Katherine (Dean) Pulakos of South Carolina, Joan (Paul) Ruchtie of Canfield, and Margaret Kuharich of Austintown; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Ruth was a loving and giving person, and will be remembered and truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Besides her parents, three sisters, Mary L. Kolesar, Katherine Kolesar Kuharich and Agnes Kolesar Bacak; a brother-in-law, John Bacak; a niece Carol Jean Kuharich Kohl; and two nephews, John Kohl and Charles Kuharich II, are also deceased.

Leonard P. Patrone, 87

YOUNGSTOWN - Leonard P. Patrone, 87, of the city’s westside, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 29, 2011, at the Cleveland Clinic.

Leonard was born Oct. 13, 1923 in Youngstown, a son of the late Thomas and Theresa Yancar Patrone, and was a lifelong area resident.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1941 to 1945 during World War II, and subsequently worked at Republic Steel for 39 years, retiring from the shipping department May 31, 1985.

Leonard was a member of St. Anthony Church in Youngstown.

Mr. Patrone leaves his beloved wife of 65 years, Margaret "Peg" Cronk Patrone, whom he married Jan. 31, 1946; two sons, Thomas (Eileen) Patrone of Niles and William Patrone of Delray Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren, Michael (Kimberly), Matthew, and Jennifer; two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Sidney; a brother, Joseph Botak of Canfield; and a sister, Dorothy (Bill) Cardon of Columbiana.

Leonard will be truly and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A son, Leonard M. Patrone, passed away in March of 2009.

Eva M. Briya, 83

YOUNGSTOWN - Eva M. Briya, 83, of the city’s westside, passed away unexpectedly early Monday evening, March 28, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

Eva was born Jan. 17, 1928 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Anthony and Elizabeth Tkalec, and was a lifelong area resident.

In her younger days, Eva worked for Thornton Dry Cleaners, and then became a homemaker who devoted her life to raising and caring for her family. She was a loving, caring, and wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, and she will be dearly missed by all of those whose lives she touched so tenderly.

Mrs. Briya enjoyed making rugs, painting ceramics, baking, traveling, and collecting pottery and dolls. Eva made it a habit to never say goodbye without saying, "I love you."

She was a member of St. Brendan Church in Youngstown.

Eva leaves her husband of 60 years, Paul J. Briya, whom she married May 20, 1950; four children, Eva Marie Mraz of Youngstown, Paul T. (Andrea) Briya of Austintown, Bonnie S. (Fred J.) LoSasso of Poland, and Beverly (Scott) Krafft of Fort Wayne, Ind.; 13 grandchildren, Jeff, Mark, Gregory, Michelle, Ryan, Justin, Cory, Lauren, Natalie, Amanda, Andrew, Aaron, and Anna; a great-grandson, Samuel; and a sister, Frances Vadjunec of Boardman.

Four brothers, John, Steve, Anthony, and George Tkalec, and four sisters, Katie Gora, Julia Komenak, Mary Gleason, and Rose Tkalec, are deceased.

George F. "Sonny" Adams, Jr., 72

YOUNGSTOWN - George F. "Sonny" Adams, Jr., 72, passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, March 28, 2011, at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.

George was born Dec. 2, 1938 in Youngstown, a son of the late George F. Sr. and Mildred Burns Adams, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Adams served for four years in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1960 during peacetime. He worked for General Motors at the Lordstown plant for 20 years, retiring in 1991. Prior to working at GM, Sonny worked at United Engineering in Youngstown for 11 years.

Sonny enjoyed building model airplanes, watching the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns, spending time at his cottage near Lake Erie, and loved being spoiled by his wife.

Sonny’s beloved wife Mildred Elaine Adams, whom he married July 2, 1957, passed away Feb. 27, 2011.

Sonny leaves two sons, Stephen (Shauna) Adams of Hye, Texas and Donald (Rhonda) Adams of Canfield; two daughters, Susan Bigony (Tom Heiss) of Youngstown and Donna Inskeep (Jim Balentine) of Struthers; 10 grandchildren, John, Shelli, Stephen, Kaitlyn, Danielle, Christopher, Amanda, Michelle, Derek, and Brandie; three great-grandchildren, Tristan, Taylor, and Payton; and three sisters, Mary Neel of Youngstown, and Betty Netrick and Donna Shaw, both of Georgia.

Helen D. Sonoga, 88

AUSTINTOWN - Helen D. Sonoga, 88, passed away Monday morning, March 28, 2011, at Hospice House following an extended illness.

Helen was born April 20, 1922 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine Kramer Chintala, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1936 graduate of Holy Name of Jesus Elementary School and was a 1940 graduate of Chaney High School. She worked for W.T. Grant Company and for Ungar Brothers, and was a homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for her family.

Mrs. Sonoga was a lifelong member of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Youngstown, where she was a member of the Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Infant Jesus of Prague Guild at St. Matthias Church.

Helen was a member and treasurer for First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association No. 169 for over 50 years, was a trustee for the Maria E. Grega District, was a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokol and bowled in that organization’s bowling league. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters of The Americas, St. Ann Court No. 1875.

Helen leaves her husband of 65 years, Michael P. Sonoga, whom she married Jan. 15, 1946; her daughter, Dolores J. Sonoga of Austintown; and many extended family members and friends.

Helen will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Theodore A. "Ted" Parent, 79

CANFIELD - Theodore A. "Ted" Parent, 79, formerly of South Canfield-Niles Road, passed away late Sunday evening, March 27, 2011, at Hospice House following a brief illness.

Theodore was born Feb. 3, 1932 in Youngstown, a son of the late John and Mary Kay Parent, and was a lifelong area resident.

He was a 1950 graduate of Chaney High School, and subsequently worked at Ward Baking Company while attending Youngstown College. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Throughout the years, Ted owned and operated a television tube store on Youngstown’s westside, worked at Youngstown Steel Door, and ran a mail-order business for the Franklin Mint. The job he enjoyed most was being an antique dealer with his wife, Leona Pilch Parent, whom he married May 14, 1960, and who passed away Dec. 8, 1999.

Ted was a member of St, Michael Church in Canfield. He enjoyed talk radio, the History Channel, and watching the Cleveland Indians.

Ted’s memory will be cherished by his daughters, Anna Marie (Barry) Ottney of Howland, and Barbara Parent of Cambridge, Mass.; his sons, Andrew (Rosalynd) Parent of Canfield and David Parent of Youngstown; four grandchildren, David and Katie Ottney of Howland, and Andrew Scott and Sarah Parent of Canfield; and his sister, Patricia (Richard) Hames of Youngstown.

Ted will be truly and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

YOUNGSTOWN - Margaret Hruska, 91, of the city’s westside, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 27, 2011, at Hospice House with her family by her side.

Margaret, who was known to many as "Julia," was born July 19, 1919 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Stephen Sr. and Maria Dovica Kovach, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a graduate of Chaney High School, worked at Republic Rubber, and became a homemaker who dedicated her life to raising and caring for her family.

Mrs. Hruska was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Youngstown, and was a member of the church’s Altar Guild.

She enjoyed watching hummingbirds, gardening, and cherished the time she spent with her family.

Her husband, Andrew Hruska, whom she married April 28, 1951, passed away, Nov. 25, 1993.

Margaret leaves her son, Allen (Denise) Hruska of Youngstown; two grandchildren, Justin and Caitlin; two sisters, Pauline Farmer of Boardman and Sally (Stanley) Chermely of Canfield; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Kovach of Austintown and Flora Kovac of Canfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Margaret will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Besides her husband, an infant daughter, Joyce, two sisters, Mary Dezort and Susan Marvich, and two brothers, Steve and John Kovach, are deceased.

William S. "Bill" Kurta, 63

AUSTINTOWN - William S. Kurta, 63, passed away early Monday evening, March 21, 2011, at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren following a lengthy illness.

William was born March 29, 1947 in Youngstown, a son of the late William J. and Helen Kollar Kurta, and was a lifelong area resident.

He was a 1965 graduate of Chaney High School, attended Kent State University, and subsequently worked for 30 years for the City of Youngstown Waste Water Department, retiring in 1996.

Bill was an active man. He was a member and tour guide for the Mahoning Valley Historical Society and was a volunteer for the Society’s Pioneer Suitcase Outreach Program. He was a member and financial secretary of the Lowellville Rod & Gun Club, was a member and past-president of the Austintown Lions Club, and was a member and past-vice-president of the Austintown Friends of the Library. Mr. Kurta was also a volunteer for Goodwill Industries Radio Reading program, was a member of The Nature Conservatory, the Smithsonian Institute, and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed stamp collecting, air rifle shooting at Hillside, and had an avid interest in local history.

Mr. Kurta leaves his wife Louise McGee Kurta, whom he married Oct. 23, 1982; his daughter, Anne (William "Red") Rockwell of Youngstown; a stepson, James Hunt of Youngstown; three stepdaughters, Colette Seifert of New Middletown, Phyllis (Chip) McCullough of Austintown, and Wendy (Eric) Rusback of Austintown; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Ellen (Doug) Wilcox of Austintown.

Bill will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Besides his parents, a stepdaughter, Sherry Luther, is deceased.

John H. Davis, 80

YOUNGSTOWN - John H. Davis, 80, of the city’s west side, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 17, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Youngstown.

John was born Feb. 14, 1931 in Youngstown, a son of the late Thomas J. and Josephine Chisler Davis, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Davis was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany for 18 months during the Korean War.

He worked for Conrail for 37 years, retiring as a railroad clerk in February of 1993, and also worked various part-time jobs, including 10 years doing janitorial work.

Mr. Davis was a member of St. Brendan Church in Youngstown, and was a member of the Conrail Golf League since 1994.

John leaves his wife, Darlene Butler Davis, whom he married Sept. 20, 1958; his son, Mark Davis of Erie, Pa.; his twin brother, Joseph (Lucille) Davis of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; and three sisters, Marie Reiter of Venice, Fla., and Dorothy (Keith) Conklin and Grace (Red) Norman, each of Niles.

John will be truly and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Four brothers, Thomas, Robert, William, and James Davis, are deceased.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Brendan Church on Oakwood Avenue, Youngstown.

Memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to the St. Brendan Memorial Fund.

Marie M. Rockney, 96

YOUNGSTOWN - Marie M. Rockney, 96, formerly of Flo-Lor Drive and Winona Drive, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, March 20, 2011, at The Inn at Christine Valley.

Marie was born Aug. 14, 1914 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Vincent and Rose Hoffman Tesner, and was a lifelong area resident.

She was a 1933 graduate of The Rayen School, and during the 1930s worked for Strouss’ Department store in downtown Youngstown, starting as a seamstress in the drapery department, and later becoming an interior decorator and supervisor.

Marie was a member for over 50 years and was past-president of the Youngstown Polish Arts Club, was a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans, Post No. 87 Ladies Auxiliary, and was a member of the American Council for Polish Culture. She was also a member and first president of the local chapter of the Gold Star Wives and was a member of the Ohio Cultural Alliance.

She was a member of St. Patrick Church in Youngstown, and a member of St. Casimir Church in Youngstown, where she was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. Marie also belonged to the senior citizens groups at St. Casimir Parish, St. Stanislaus Parish, and St. Christine Parish, and was a member of the Golden Agers of Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Marie also enjoyed traveling.

Her first husband, Menno Martin Haak, whom she married in 1938, was killed in action in 1944 during WWII. Her second husband, William E. Rockney, whom she married in 1949, passed away in 1992.

Marie leaves four sons, William (Jan) Haak of Canton, William E. (Kathleen) Rockney of Fountain Valley, Calif., James L. (Karen) Rockney of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Jerry A. Rockney of Youngstown; nine grandchildren, Ashley, Justin, Sean, James, Sarah, Carrie, Robin, Bill, and Bobbi; a great-grandson, Menno; and three brothers, Carl (Dorothy) Tesner of Youngstown, Raymond (Dorothy) Tesner of Boardman, and Edmund Tesner of Austintown.

Marie will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Besides her husbands, an infant son, Martin Haak, three brothers, Paul, Walter, and Felix Tesner, and a sister, Frances Barwick, are deceased.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where the Polish Arts Club will recite the rosary at 4:45 p.m.

Funeral services will begin on Friday at 9:15 at the funeral home, and continue at 10 a.m. at St. Casimir Church on Jefferson Street.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.

John Robert "Bob" Balint
, 77

YOUNGSTOWN - John Robert Balint, 77, of the city’s west side, passed away Thursday evening, March 17, 2011, at Hospice House.

John, who was known to all as "Bob," was born Dec. 29, 1933 in Youngstown, a son of the late Andrew and Katherine Stroney Balint, and was a lifelong area resident.

He worked for W.B. Pollack Company and for the Mahoning County Sanitation Department as a maintenance mechanic.

Mr. Balint was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Youngstown.

Bob’s wife, Dolores "Dee" Suhy Balint, passed away Dec. 12, 2007.

He leaves his daughter, Sandy Irwin of Girard; his granddaughter, Amber (Brad) Allen of Chesterfield, S.C.; his great-grandchildren, Hunter and Jacob Allen; and three brothers, William Balint of Youngstown, Richard (Sara) Balint of Youngstown, and Rev. Edward (Betty Lou) Balint of Wooster.

Bob will be truly and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Besides his wife, two brothers, Daniel and Andrew Balint, and a son-in-law, Mark Irwin, are deceased.

Family and friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 19, at St. John Lutheran Church, 1429 Mahoning Avenue in Youngstown, where services will follow at noon.

Interment will be at Tod Homestead Cemetery at a later date.

Lois Ann Jurida, 86

YOUNGSTOWN - Lois Ann Jurida, 86, formerly of Brandywine Apartments, passed away Thursday morning, March 10, 2011, at Meridian Arms Living Center.

Lois was born October 4, 1924 in Youngstown and had worked as a sales clerk for Strouss’, Kaufmann’s and Macy’s Department Stores.

She enjoyed reading, shopping and going out with her friends.

Her husband, William Jurida, died in 1972.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 15, at Kinnick Funeral Home, Youngstown.

Interment was at Brunstetter Cemetery in Austintown.

Helen Zenko Waller, 92

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP - Helen Waller, 92, formerly of Youngstown, passed away early Monday morning, March 14, 2011, at Liberty Health Care Center.

Helen was born March 28, 1918 in Farrell, Pa., a daughter of the late George and Anna Listopad Nemkovich.

She became a homemaker who dedicated her life to rearing her children, her "four boys" which she always called them, even after they became adults.

Mrs. Waller was a charter member of the Nativity of Christ Russian Orthodox Church in Youngstown as well as St. Mark Orthodox Church in Liberty Township. She was also a member of both church’s Altar Societies.

She was a candy striper volunteer for North Side Hospital, was a charter member of the new Elm Street School PTA, was a member of the Hubbard VFW Women’s Auxiliary Post No. 3767, and was a Multipurpose Senior Citizen.

Helen was skilled in language and was fluent in Russian. She also spoke and understood Polish, Croatian, Slovak, and learned Spanish in her later years. Because of her language skills, Helen was often called upon to translate for European citizens not fluent in English.

She was also an avid bowler who carried a consistent 165 average, and was also a savvy 500 card player.

Her husband, Myron J. Waller, whom she married Dec. 6, 1958, passed away, Jan. 13, 1999.

Helen leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Alex (Becky) Zenko of Cortland, Andrew (Susan) Zenko of Hubbard, and Ronald (Charlotte) Zenko of Hubbard; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Stella Garrett of West Middlesex, Pa.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Helen will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Besides her husband, a son, George Zenko, a sister, Olga Kurowsky, and two brothers, Walter and Michael Nemkovich, are deceased.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, where Trisagion Prayers will be said at 5:30 p.m.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday (3/17) at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Orthodox Church on Loganway.

Interment will follow at Belmont Park Cemetery in Liberty Township.
